" . . . and now, Irish Anti-War raconteur. . . . . . . David Letterman!"

ACT 1:
During the pre-show Q&A, Dave learns we have a woman from Georgia in the audience. Dave sends her a bottle of water to help fight the drought down yonder.

It was revealed that Tiger Woods won the U.S. Open despite having an injured knee and a fractured leg. That's absolutely amazing. We see some of our favorite 'Heroic Sports Performances.'
-Tiger Woods - 2008 U.S. Open - wins with injured knee and fractured leg.
-Kerri Strug - 1996 Olympics - helps United States team win Gold in Gymnastics with injured ankle
-Kirk Gibson - 1988 World Series - game winning home torn with torn hamstring
-Terry Bradshaw - Super Bowl XIV - wins Super Bowl while not wearing pants

It's time for "Cool/Not Cool."
-We see Barack Obama making a grand entrance to a cheering crowd - COOL
-We see President Bush attempting to leave through a locked door - NOT COOL

ACT 2:
The other day, Dave was watching the TV with his son. One of those Bo-Flex exercise machine commercials come on. The guy is buffed and humped. His upper body is the shape of a pyramid.
Dave's son looks up at daddy and says, "Daddy, maybe you should get one of those."
Dave mutters, "Have you been talking to your mother again?"

LATE SHOW FUN FACTS: some fun; some factual, few both.
Late Show Fun Facts: Soon to be a major motion picture.

ACT 3:
TOP TEN: Things You Don't Want To Hear At The Beach

MORGAN FREEMAN
Morgan is in New York these days appearing in a production of "The Country Girl" on Broadway, along with Frances McDormand and Peter Gallagher, and directed by Mike Nichols.
Morgan lived in New York City when he was first starting out in show business. His first job he got was working at a telegrapher. He learned to work the telegraph in the military and put it to good use. He would sit in an office downtown and correspondents from all over the world would call in their news. Morgan heard it first before anyone else. He would then send the story off to the New York Times and to Cleveland and so on and so on.
But in show business he had a harder time finding work. He went back to L.A. and learned how to network and polish his skills. When Morgan returned to New York, he was much more adept at networking. Morgan took up dance to try to get into the business. He knew it was important to learn anything and everything. An actor who could sing and dance was a triple threat. Whatever he did, it worked. I first remember Morgan Freeman on "The Electric Company," a Head Start-type television program for kids. It was like Sesame Street for kids with an attitude and a wicked sense of humor.
My favorite "Electric Company" bit: "Love of Chair," which would always conclude with, " . . . and what about Naomi?" At least that's the way I remember it. In fact, the "what about Naomi" could easily have been a one-time deal, but that's the one I remember; that's the one that sticks in my mind.
I just checked the Google. "Love of Chair" always ended with the eerie, " . . . and what about Naomi." Just the way I remember it.
Growing up, Morgan always had a desire to pilot a plane he's fulfilled that dream by getting his pilot's license. The only way one can learn anything is by stretching one's limits and Morgan has done so as a pilot, though the limits he stretched were the limits of the F.A.A. This resulted in his pilot's license being suspended from time to time. No pilot wants to hear the message upon landing, "Uhh, the F.A.A. would like to speak to you." In Honolulu, he accidentally approached the no-fly zone around Pearl Harbor and he's had a problem or two over at nearby Teterboro. Dave has a hankering to adopt the goggles and scarf and get at the controls but he fears he doesn't have the self-confidence needed to fly a plane. Morgan asks, "Do you drive a car?" If you can drive a car, you can fly a plane. It sounds easy, but I'm with Dave on this one. I'm happy just hanging out at the local airport and watching the planes take off and land.
Morgan's new film, "Wanted," with Angelina Jolie, opened today.

ACT 5:
Announce: "Monday on the Late Show, Dave is joined by Julia Roberts, and musician Reverend Al Green. We're your first choice in laughter and your last choice in home decorating tips.
We'll be right back."

ACT 6:
KALEY CUOCO

From the CBS show, "The Big Bang Theory." Kaley says she almost didn't make it here due to trouble with her flight. Dave gasps, "Did you fly through Pearl Harbor?" No, not quite. Kaley was all set to fly to New York for the show. She arrived at the airport; checked in; and then hears the announcement that it's time to board. She boards the plane, but then is told the plane is going to Texas. She's on the wrong plane. She is then told that due to inclement weather in New York, her flight is delayed 3 hours. Annoyed, she gets comfortable in an uncomfortable seat and begins her long wait. Minutes later she hears the announcement, "Kaley Cuoco, please come to your gate, your plane is about to leave. You have one minute to get to your plane. She jumps up and sprints to her plane, crying and gasping for breathe the whole way. She makes it just in time and through her tears apologizes to everyone. She is a mess and completely embarrassed. A flight attendant tries to calm her down and Kaley apologizes some more and blurts, "I am so sorry. I must have looked like a crazy person with a bomb."
The flight attendant looked straight at her and sternly said, "Ma'am, I am going to stand up very slowly and pretend that you didn't just say that." This just caused Kaley to sob and apologize even more. It was not a good start to a cross country flight.
You should never mention the word "bomb" within ten miles of an airport. And after what Kaley went through, if I were her I wouldn't even mention "Big Bang."
"The Big Bang Theory" - Monday nights at 8:00 on CBS.

ACT 7:
WILD SWEET ORANGE
: From their new album to be released in July, "We Have Cause To Be Uneasy," Wild Sweet Orange" performed "Ten Dead Dogs."

And that was our show for Friday, June 27, 2008.v

32 years ago tonight . . . . my high school graduation party in my parent's backyard. Cops estimated the gathering to be over 1,000. And not one lawsuit or arrest came out of that party. The irresponsible 70's were such a fun time.

There's a new Major League Baseball stat which labels 6 innings pitched and letting up 3 runs as a "quality start." So I guess an ERA of 4.50 is a quality ERA.

And now it's time once again for "Late Night the Day They Were Born."
Kaley Cuoco was born November 30, 1985. So, what happened on Late Night the day Kaley Cuoco was born?
Late Night, November 30, 1985; show #635: the first Holiday Film Festival, featuring films by Dave ("With My Own Eyes" with Tom Brokaw), Michael Keaton ("But I'm Happy" with Ron Howard), Paul and the World's Most Dangerous Band ("Dress Cool" with Sade), Bette Midler ("Angst on a Shoestring"), and Harry Shearer ("You Wouldn't Believe Our World" with Marcia Strassman, Christopher Guest, and Michael McKean).

And that's what happened on Late Night the day Kaley Cuoco was born.
